About Robin Uthappa
As a batter, Robin Uthappa was great to watch, powerful, well-versed in all available options, and unafraid to hit the ball in the air.
Uthappa first drew the public’s attention when he scored 66 against a bowling attack that had Zaheer Khan, Murali Kartik, and RP Singh during India B’s defeat to India A in the Challenger Trophy in Mumbai in 2005.
He scored a match-winning 93-ball century for India B at the competition the year after in Mohali. The reward was a spot in the senior India team for the final ODI of the home series against England in early 2006, and he took advantage of it by scoring a swift 86 runs.
One of his best performances came a year and a half later. He scored a fearless unbeaten 47 off 33 balls to help India defeat England at The Oval. Uthappa was a member of the 2007 World T20-winning Indian team.
IPL Career
Uthappa had a great IPL season in 2014. He lead the league in runs scored and scoring 40 or more in ten straight innings for the KKR. The prize was a spot in the Indian team for the ODI series against Bangladesh in 2014. There where he scored fifty runs in a string of rain-delayed games.
In total, Uthappa played 86 games for KKR, scoring slightly under 2500 runs at a strike rate of 136. He was a force for them till the end of 2019. Later, he spent a season with Rajasthan Royals before ending his career in 2022 with Chennai Super Kings. Later he took his retirement from all forms of cricket in India and abroad.
